The Dark Destroyer

  1. THE DARK DESTROYER - An acrylic painting on a 16 x 20 size canvas board. It appears on the cover of, "Amazing Jan.1976," and is based on the lead story, "The Dark Destroyer," by Jack Williamson.

Jack Williamson passed away in 2006. He was the last of the great pioneers of American science fiction. He began selling stories to the pulp magazines way back in 1928, and amazingly, he was able to keep up with the changing times. For decade after decade he competed with new young writers that came along generation after generation and for over 75 years his wonderful stories appeared regularly in magazines and books. I can't think of any other writer who managed to be so good for so long. It was an honor to read and illustrate some of his stories.
